Known for her deep ink renderings of the moon, Ryu’s paintings unfold around this mysterious celestial body, blending traditional and contemporary forms. The distant glow of moonlight appears in simplified forms, often layered over mountain slopes or reflected in water. Based on prolonged observation of nature, her work aims to capture not mere representation, but the energy inherent in the landscape. Through repeated acts of filling and emptying, her daily life becomes embedded in the canvas, where subtle emotions unspoken in words are expressed through ink and color.
