'팝초현실주의'라고 부를 수 있는 김명진의 작품에는 대중문화와 내러티브가 교차한다.

그는 드로잉, 페인팅, 낙서, 스프레이등의 다채로운 회화기법을 사용하여 우리를 한편의 문학 작품과도 같은 생기발랄하고 에너지로 가득찬 이야기로 이끄는 특별한 작가이다.

김명진 작가는 2023년 KIAF에서 주목할 차세대 작가를 조명하는 ‘KIAF HIGHLIGHT 작가’로 선정되었다.

그는 해외 주요 아트페어에서도 컬렉터들의 관심을 이끌어내며 좋은 성과를 거두어왔으며, 특히 2016년 12월 마이애미 아트주간에서는 세계적인 미술지인 Artsy 에 ’50명의 꼭 봐야하는 작가‘로 선정되었고, 2016년과 2017년 KIAF 문화체육관광부 공모에서 우수작가로 선정되는 등 작품성을 인정받았다.

작품이 국립현대미술관(미술은행)에 소장되었고 유명한 패션 브랜드인 ADLV(아크메 드 라비)와 협업하는 등 활발하게 작품 활동을 하고 있다.

그의 'Edgewalker'는 경계를 걸으며 새로움을 제일 먼저 맞이하는 모험가이다.

A Space Odyssey 는 그의 작품들 중에서 가장 생기발랄한 시리즈 작품이다.

생동감 넘치는 공간에서 펼쳐지는 풍경들은 작가와 우리가 함께 하는 Bright한 모험이고 그의 명랑한 서사이며, 각자의 삶이라는 거대한 우주에서 떠나는 스페이스 오디세이다. 그는 타고난 몽상가로서 우리가 사는 평범한 세상의 모든 순간을 깨어있는 감성으로 변화시켜 우리를 흥겨운 상상의 이야기로 인도한다.

김명진 작가는 지치지않고 감성이 무디어지지않고 늘 처음처럼 삶의 새로움에 깨어있는 그림을 그리는 화가가 되고싶다고 말하며 화면에 거침없이 풀어내는 '네버랜드'로 우리를 초대한다.

Kim Myoungjin’s works, which may be described as pop-surrealism, unfold at the intersection of popular culture and narrative. Employing diverse painterly techniques―drawing, painting, doodling, spray, and more―he leads us into vibrant, energetic stories reminiscent of a literary work brought to life on canvas.

In 2023, Kim Myoungjin was selected as a “KIAF Highlight Artist”, a program spotlighting the next generation of notable artists. His works have consistently drawn the attention of collectors at major international art fairs, achieving remarkable results. Notably, during Miami Art Week in December 2016, he was named one of “50 Must-See Artists” by the world-renowned art platform Artsy. He was also recognized as an outstanding artist in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s KIAF competition in both 2016 and 2017, affirming the artistic value of his practice.

His works are part of the collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Art Bank), and he has engaged in dynamic collaborations, including with the well-known fashion brand ADLV (Acme de la Vie).
