The Master Class with Director Yoon Ga-eun, Organized by Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles was held at various Universities renowned for film studies : CSUN, UCI and Chapman University.

Students showed a lot of interest, especially in terms of feminism that can be felt throughout the film as it was produced by a female director.

너무 좋았어요. 저도 어릴 때 비슷한 경험이 있어서 영화를 보며 비슷한 감정이나 영감이 떠올랐거든요. 여성 감독을 만나 볼 수 있어서 더욱 뜻 깊었던 것 같아요.

미국 관객분들을 직접적으로 만나서 영화에 대한 이야기를 한 것은 저에게 처음 있는 일이라, 여러 가지로 긴장도 많이 됬었고 기대도 많이했었는데,

I was very nervous and excited because this is my first time meeting audiences in the U.S. to talk about my films.

특히 영화의 고장이나 마찬가지인 곳에서 영화를 공부하는 학생들을 만나서 이야기를 나눌 수 있는 기회를 가지게 되어서 너무 즐겁고 저에게도 정말 뿌듯한 경험이였구오,

It has been such a tremendous experience being able to meet students studying film production and cinematography in Los Angeles which is like the birth place of film.

제 작업을 다시 돌아보고 되게 뿌듯하고 자랑스럽기도 한 순간이였습니다.

This event allowed me to look back over my work and made me feel very proud.

오랜만에 미국에 필름스쿨에 오니까 옛날 학교 다닐 때 생각도 나고 마치 꼭 10여년 전에 학교로 다시 돌아가 친구들이랑 이야기한 기분이라 즐거웠어요. 오랜만에 영화를 찍고 나서 느껴보는 즐거운 기분이라 오길 잘했다는 생각이 듭니다.

Coming back to film schools for the first time in a long time made me reminisce about my school years here in LA which was about 10 years ago. It truly felt like I was back in those days just talking to my friends about films. I haven’t felt such joy and excitement after finishing a movie in a while so I’m really glad to be here.

재미있었어요. 큐엔에이를 할 때 질문을 하는 학생들의 표정이나 어투에서 같이 커뮤니케잏션 하고 있다는 느낌이 들었고, 굉장히 한국적인 역사와 소재인데도 관심을 많이 가져주셔서 굉장히 인상깊었습니다.

It was a lot of fun. During the Q&A session I felt like I was genuinely communicating with the students through their facial expressions and the tone of their voices. I was also very impressed by them being so engaged and interested in my film despite the fact that it heavily relies on Korean history.

감독이 왜 이 영화를 만들게 되었고, 왜 이런 장면을 넣었는지 알 수 있어서 굉장히 흥미로운 시간이었어요. 영화도 정말 재미있었고요. 기회가 되면 다시 보고 싶네요.
