Yeah, I enjoyed artwork very much.
네, 미술작품을 정말 잘 감상했어요.

It's really great. It's really creative work. It's a lot of different medium. There is just so much great stuff happening. There's are figure work, abstract, whole lot of everything.
정말 멋지고, 다른 느낌의 매체로 창조성이 느껴지는 작품들이었어요. 이 전시회는 굉장히 탁월한 작품들이 있는 것 같아요. 인물화도 있고, 추상적인 작품도 있고, 여러가지 작품들이 있네요.

잠시 동안 해서 끝나는 게 아니고 누가 결국은 오래 끝까지 하느냐가 제일 중요한 것 같아요.
Art isn’t something that is temporary. What matters is who will be able to continue to produce art pieces for the longest.

저는 art가 인생의 반이라고 생각해요. 이제는 아트를 빼놓고는 인생이 무의미해질 것 같아요.
I think art makes up for half of my life. My life would be meaningless without art.

9월 22일 목요일. LA한국문화원 2층 갤러리에서 남가주한인미술가협회의 48회 전시가 열렸습니다.
On Thursday, September 22nd, exhibition of “The 48th Korean Artists Association of Southern California” was held on the 2nd floor exhibition room at Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles.

[인터뷰:남가주한인미술가협회 회장 김종성]
남가주한인미술가협회는 50년의 역사를 가진 단체에요. 지금은 48회 전시를 하고 있지만 몇몇 분이 모여서 시작한 이 그룹이...(중략)... 오늘 전시는 52명이 했지만, 활발히 활동하는 작가들은 8,90명이라고 생각하시면 되고.
The Korean Artists Association of Southern California has a deep-rooted history of 50 years. Today would mark the 48th exhibition. For this year’s exhibition, 52 extraordinary artists participated, but normally, we have about 80-90 active artists.

[내레이션]
무려 52점이 출품된 이번 전시회에 참가한 작가분들의 작품 이야기도 들어보실까요?
Shall we hear the stories behind these art pieces from the artists?

[인터뷰:조현숙 작가]
제가 교토가서 그 젠가들을 보고 inspiration을 받은 거예요. 어떤 일회성과 어떤 순간성과 그리고 계속되는 반복성들에 대해서 그 젠가들을 보면서 드로잉 라인이라는 소재를 가지고...
I was inspired by jengas during my visit to Kyoto. By looking at the jengas, I was able to grasp the idea of something momentary, instantaneous, and repetitive…

[인터뷰:윤영은 작가]
이건 콜라쥬인데요, 저는 리사이클 하는 걸 좋아하거든요. 그래서 여기 한 것이 전부 매거진이나 브로셔같은 버리는 것들을 잘라서 그림을 만든 거에요.
This is a collage. I really like recycling things, so you could see that this piece is a mix of magazine and brochure cut-outs.

[인터뷰:한석란 작가]
모든 것이 영원하지 않다라는 생각에 대한 집착이 있었어요 그래서
들꽃을 그릴 때 유화의 무거운 터치보다는 아주 가볍게 빛이 들어오고 
바람이 그 안에 통하면서 어떤 분위기를 야기하면서 그냥 편안하게~
I was obsessed with the idea that nothing lasts forever. Thus, when I painted the field flowers, instead of using opaque oil paint, I painted this piece lightly so that light would softly shine through the flowers and the wind would make its way in the painting, giving it a really pleasant feeling.

It makes it interesting because you really get a different perspective on how people even feel about just being in LA or in america
that are from somewhere else. you just get a complete different cultural view.
정말 흥미로웠던 것은 다른 곳에서 온 사람들이 로스앤젤레스나 미국에 사는 것에 대한 다른 관점을 볼 수 있다는 점이었고, 다른 문화적인 시점으로 감상 할 수 있어 좋았어요.

[인터뷰: Daniel Sosa]
I mean well that art I've seen tonight is really beautiful and
I think being an artist is definitly something that's important to society and
I hope they keep doing what they are doing, you know?
오늘 본 모든 그림은 정말 아름다웠어요. 전 미술이 사회에 정말 중요한 역할을 한다고 생각하고, 앞으로도 많은 아티스트들이 계속해서 예술작품을 만들어 내 주셨으면 좋겠어요!
