9월 워싱턴 한국문화원에서 열리는 미술 전시 <더 프리즈매틱 The Prismatic>을 소개한다.

안녕하세요, 저는 그룹 <더 프리즈매틱>의 강윤정 작가입니다.

<더 프리즈매틱>은 워싱턴 한국문화원에서 열리는 전시 제목인 동시에 전시에 참여한 그룹의 이름입니다.

The prismatic is not only the group name but also the title of the show, here at Korean Cultural Center, Washington DC.?

그룹 <더 프리즈매틱>은 다양한 영역에서 활동하는 예술가들로 결합된 창작 공동체입니다. 7명의 한국 배경을 가진 아티스트들로 구성되어 있으며 저희는 미시간 디트로이트에 있는 크랜북 아트 아카데미를 졸업했습니다. 저희는2012~2015년 사이에 그곳에서 만났고 각자의 전공 공부를 했습니다.

간단하게 저희 그룹 아티스트를 소개해드리겠습니다.

조지형 작가는 조각가이자 가구 디자이너입니다.

김진 작가는 수집가입니다.

장동환 작가는 그래픽 디자이너입니다.

김연희 작가는 멀티미디어 작가이고

문연욱 작가는 세라미스트이며

저 강윤정과 이준 작가는 혼합매체를 이용한 설치작업을 합니다.

Briefly introducing about what media each artist works on, Nina Cho is a sculptor and furniture designer, Jin Kim is an object collector, Hwan Jahng is a graphic designer, Yeonhee Kim is Multimedia sculptor, Yunwook Mun is a Ceramist, Yunjung Kang, myself, and June Lee, we both are mixed media / Installation artists.

이번 전시는 저희가 졸업을 하고 함께 하는 첫 전시입니다.

This is our first time to put our accomplishments together at the same place since graduated.

이번 전시 <더 프리즈매틱>에서 저희는 다양한 매체의 작품들을 선보이고 있습니다. 도예, 섬유, 조각, 설치, 미디어 아트, 그래픽, 제품 디자인을 보여줍니다.

For the show ‘The Prismatic’, we are showing our body of works in diverse media: Ceramic, Fiber, Sculptures, Installation, Media art, Graphic and Product design.

저희는 하나의 빛이 ‘프리즘’을 통과할 때 다양한 색을 만들어 내는 것처럼 개인과 조직,

공적인 것과 사적인 것, 타인과 자아 사이의 인간 상태에 대한 다양성을 보여주고자 했습니다.

We aim to exhibit diversity of human conditions in the context of group and individual, public and private, and others and self, like a prism that refracts a single ray of light into different colors.

저희는 이번 그룹전시 <더 프리즈매틱>을 통해 내적으로 화합하며 미학적으로는 역동적인 예술 작품들을 보여드리고자 합니다.

This group show, The Prismatic, aims to present whole body of works internally cohesive, yet aesthetically dynamic.
