On September 25th, 2017, the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles presented the workshop “The 34th Korean American Cultural Experience for LAPD.”

for many this is new experience because we are working in the city that is most diverse in culture.

우리는 가장 다양한 문화권을 가진 도시에서 일을 하고 있기 때문에 이번 워크숍은 여러분들에게 분명 새로운 경험이 될 것입니다.

therefore, we would like to expose and enrich you to the Korean culture today. from today’s experience, you will be able to understand the Korean culture and be a better officer in Los Angeles City.

그래서 우리는 오늘 한국 문화에 대해 배우고 알아보고자 합니다. 오늘 워크숍을 수료하고 각자의 지구로 돌아가면 한국인 시민들을 잘 이해하게 될 수 있을 것입니다.

이번 워크숍은 한국의 문화, 이민사, 언어 뿐 아니라 태권도 시연과 한국음식을 체험하는 다채로운 프로그램으로 구성되었습니다.

The workshop included lectures related to Korean culture, immigration, and the Korean language. LAPD Officers also watched a Taekwondo performance and ate delicious Korean food.

제가 생각했던 것 보다 더 많은 한국인이 거주하고 있다는 것을 배웠습니다. 텔레비젼에서 보는 것과 다르다는 것을 알 수 있었고요. 매우 유용한 워크숍 이었습니다. 다른 경관들은 제가 오늘 배운 내용들을 길 위에서 배워야하는데 이렇게 배울 수 있어 특별하네요

The purpose of the workshop is to help police officers understand Korean heritage and overcome cultural barriers.

한국문화와 이민사회에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히고 있다는 점에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있습니다.

This workshop is important for the Korean community in LA because it can prevent misunderstandings or disadvantages that might occur due to cultural differences.
